Club member Tom Wood scored maximum points alongside his driver Zak Hughes of Welshpool in the First round of the MRF Tyres ST Trophy. The crew started the Llandudno based Cambrian Rally on Saturday 17th February with the intention of finishing the rally in a podium place.
The odds were stacked against them with a new car, new tyres, and first time competing together. The first stage saw Hughes/Wood with a twelve second deficit to championship regular Richard Wells and Calvin Houldsworth. Seconds were gained back over the following stages which unfortunately saw Wells/Houldsworth retire with driveshaft failure handing the lead to Hughes/Wood. Despite suffering a broken drive shaft also on the final stage, the crew finished the event in 33rd overall and 1st in the Fiesta ST Trophy Championship. The Crew also took the N3 and W10 Class wins respectively.
Their next round will be the Malcolm Wilson Stages on the 3rd of March.
